"Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place. Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace. Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste, it all revolves around you. And there's no mountain to high, no river too wide. Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side..."
"Come What May" from the Moulin Rouge! Soundtrack

Typical Seals sibling picture. On Christmas day, of course.
So almost exactly 5 hours after my last post... Something pretty big happened...
Yeah... A big surprise... involving something that loooks a lot like...
Yeah.. I'd say it looks a lot like that.
Pretty, ain't it?
Yeaaah okay. So I got engaged. I think everyone who reads this probably knows the story by now, but I'm going to write it down anyway, because it's possible one day I'll forget. My memory sucks...
So that day I was baking with one of my amaaazing friends (and now maid-of-honor), Shannon. We were headin to a Christmas party that night, so lots of baking was in order. Michael was (supposedly) in Manhattan, working through Christmas Eve, which really sucked, but what can ya do.
(Actually, the night before, when Michael called me to tell me he wasn't feeling well at all, and was going to bed at 8:30.. he was actually getting ready to drive home. And that he did. And stayed at his best friend's house. And actually got up the next morning and called me when he told me he was on his way to work. When he'd actually just woken up. Sly dog.)
So we baked and hung out til about 5. We were going to get coffee before heading to the party. Shannon headed that way, but I had to stop by the post office to drop off some letters. When I got to Got Coffee (The place Michael and I had our first date...) Shannons was talking to someone, but I couldn't see who from the outside. So I walked in and looked around her, and who was sitting on the couch, but Michael. Dressed very sharply in his suit. I stopped dead and said, "What are you.... ooooh no. Oh no." As I realized what was going on. They were both grinning like fools and he told me to sit down. So I took a seat next to him and the next part's kind of a blur. He started talking about us and where we were (sitting where we had our first date) and everything and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I didn't reply at first because I was too busy freaking out about what was going on. I finally smacked myself internally and said of course I would. =)
No one in Got Coffee even realized what was going on. lol.
Slight crying and consuming of caffeination came next. And lots of shaking. And that gorgeous ring. He really did an amazing job. I couldn't have picked a more perfect ring myself.
I still find myself occasionally looking at my hand to see if this has all been one crazy dream. And the ring's still there. And I can't believe it's happening, but I could not be happier.
*slight lots of sappiness ahead*
He is truly amazing. I find myself loving him more and more everyday. In ways I never thought possible. I love being able to spy at him from across a room at a party or something and just watching him interact. The pride and love and everything I feel when that happens is amazing. I can't even describe it. I love the way he looks at me like nothing else matters. The way he'll tell me things will be okay even when he doesn't know. I love that we can act weird and sarcastic around each other and it doesn't even matter. I also love that we can be serious when we need to be. I love how he takes care of me, without being asked, and treats me better than I ever deserved to be treated. I love that we can communicate through looks, pretty much telepathically, from across the room. I love that he's my best friend, and I can't even imagine what my life would be like without him.
Though I wish I could be as good with words as he is. If we write our own vows, I'm going to be sooo outshone. lol.
*end sappiness*
So we're looking at maybe getting married in June. At his church or the one I grew up in. They'll be plenty more wedding news to come. =)
Pllluuus Christmas happened.
I love my family. Being with them is awesome, and I only hope that some day (way long from now), my kids can be as close as I am to my siblings. They're all amazing people, and so are they're significant others. And my nieces and nephew.
They're great kids, and I can't wait to meet the new niece or nephew I've got coming in July. Christmas was great with them, and visitng Michael's family was great too. I came away from Christmas with a new iPod nano, a CrockPot, a dart board, gift cards and so much more. I've been very, very blessed this year, and it's been amazing.
Goodness. This is enough of a post for now. But much love to my few readers out there. I hope you are all well, and the end of this holiday season is treating you decently.
love,
alex
