Hope Still Flies

R. RIGHTY OR LEFTY?: Righty, most of the time.

S. SIBLINGS: I have an older sister (who's married and has 4 kids), an older brother (who's married) and a younger sister... Plus a few awesome older brother-in-laws, too.

T. TIME YOU WAKE UP: School days it's between 7:20 and 8:20, weekends between 9:30 and 10:30

U. UNDERWEAR: All different kinds.

V. VEGGIE YOU DISLIKE: Most of them, sadly. Especially spinach.

W. WAYS/REASONS YOU ARE LATE: I really dislike being late. It rarely happens. If it does, it's usually because of traffic, or trying to convince Michael that we need to be early.

X. XRAYS YOU'VE HAD: Oh, dear. I broke my left arm 2 or 3 times when I was little from roller blading. I also broke my collarbone when I was 6. I injured my knee playing sports in jr. high... and then when I got arthritis they took xrays of my hands and back. So... A lot.

Y. YUMMY FOOD YOU MAKE: Psh, anything I make... Unless it's hash browns from a box. Mostly. ... Okay. I'm learning.

Z. ZOO ANIMALS YOU LIKE: PENGUINS!!!

Well, that was fun. I do miss those, and it's a great way for other people to get to know me. Woot! But for now, I've gotta run to Michael's trumpet ensemble performance. =)

much love,

alex

"I have unanswered prayers. I have trouble I wish wasn't there, and I have asked a thousand ways that You would take my pain away. I am trying to understand how to walk this weary land. Make straight the paths that crookedly lie, Oh Lord, before these feet of mine. When my world is shaking, Heaven stands. When my heart is breaking, I never leave Your hands."
-"Your Hands" by  JJ Heller

Beautiful song. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend it. My little sister and I don't completely agree on music tastes, but we both love this song.

So, here I am, sadly, at the end of my spring break. It was a busy week, but inbetween my running around, working, and visiting my brother-in-law, and (might as well be) sister-in-law, I was informed that I had been awarded my very first blog award!

Obviously, I'm very new at this. The way I understand it, I follow the rules, and pass it on...

So, Ria, over at Life as a Wife very graciously gave me this award. We found each other through Kelly's MckLinky blog... she's also a young newlywed, and I love reading her blog! She is so, so sweet, and is an amazing photographer. You really should go check her out... her blog's a great read! Thanks again, Ria!

All right, so as I understand it, here are the rules.

1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link back to their blog.

2. Pass along the award to 7 other bloggers that you think have beautiful blogs.

3. Say 7 things about yourself.

Okey doke. Rule 1...complete. now, for rule 2... Most of the blogs I read are the "big time" blogs like MckMama, Angie Smith, Patrice Williams (Jonah)... and I would recommend following all of those blogs. Very inspiring women. And those are only 3 of... a ton that I read. But women I am not so intimidated by that I comment on their blogs... I'm still gaining. So I don't think I have 7, but I'll try it out here.

1. Whitney at This is our little love story, & it's fabulous
2. Becca at Making Memories
3. Margaret at The (Mis)Adventures of Senior Year
4. Steph at Girl Meets Real World
5. Jayme at The TaterTwins

Okay... So five outta seven. Not bad.

All right, so 7 things about myself... some more well known than others.
1. I'm a junior at Kansas State University, studying chemical engineering and biochemistry.

2. I have a part time job as a barista (coffee-maker) at a local bookstore/music store/dvd store.

3. I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA). I was diagnosed at a late age (16), which means I'll probably have it for the rest of my life. It's not horrible, just my hands and feet, and my medicine is managing it well. I only really have problems when I do repetitive tasks (like put together an entertainment center).

4. During jr. high, I went snowboarding every year during spring break with my best friend, Aryn. Sadly, her and I haven't kept in touch as much. The last time I really talked to her was at my wedding. =(

5. I moved cities (both in Kansas) right before my junior year in high school. I'm not one for change, which made that extremely difficult for me. I haven't kept in touch with many of my friends from Olathe. It's sad, and I miss a lot of them. Or, who we all used to be. But, if we hadn't moved, I wouldn't have met Michael, and I wouldn't be where I am today. Everything happens for a reason, right?

6. I love reading. I don't have nearly enough shelf space in this tiny apartment for all of them. Right now, I'm reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. No matter how depressing most Nicholas Sparks books are, I can't stop reading. Even if Miley Cyrus is on the cover. And I'm sure I'll see the movie too, because I'm loving the book.

7. I have a Hope Box. It's stowed away in my closet. When I find an adorable baby outfit, especially if it's on sale, I usually buy it... and I'm keeping them all in my Hope Box. We've got several outfits in there (mostly boy clothes. I tend to buy those more for whatever reason) and I love going through it and thinking that someday, years from now, we'll have a baby to put in them. Every day is one day closer.

Well, there we have it. I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I've got a couple posts on my mind that I should be able to put out this week. I'll need a study break from my big quantum mechanics midterm that's on Wednesday. Until then...
