Hope Still Flies

• A little confused about his weight. If both doctor's office scales are correct, he went from 19.5 pounds down to 18.5 pounds in a week. I'm not so sure about that. Just about 29 inches.
• 12 months shirts are starting to get a little short, but he barely fits into 12 month pants. Short little legs. Also makes buying sets of clothes impossible. Probably going to start him on size 5 diapers
• Eating alll the solid foods. Since he started antibiotics, he's had little interest in formula. So we're starting the switch towards whole milk and toddler fortified milk. I'm probably about to drop his morning bottle and put his formula into a sippy cup. Excited we're starting to get away from bottles and formula!
• I don't want to jinx it, but I think hopefully sleep is getting a bit more stable. The past few days he's been sleeping 6 or so hours straight. But then has been up for a couple hours both nights. I remember going through this with Thad too. Also at daycare just down to his once/day nap. On the weekends he usually adds a morning catnap to that.
• Like I said, his walking is improving daily. He loves "running" with his walkers.
• The relationship between he and Thad is growing. They're starting to play together more, though Thad still doesn't really want to "play together". Someday.
• He's... kinda starting to get some hair.
• Ready for springtime and outside play!
• Loves throwing things now. A lot. He's starting to understand more of putting balls through hoops and how to work some of his toys.

• Atti's somewhere over 18 pounds, and I think closing in on 29 inches? I think he went through a little growth spurt recently... He's skinnied out a bit.
• Size 4 diapers at day, 5 at night. 12 month clothes mostly, starting to fit into some of his 18 month hand-me-downs (some of my favorites from Thad).
• 4 bottles a day, though he'd really rather just eat food all day. Between 6-7 oz unless he's busy doing other stuff.
• Still in NO TEETH land. BUT I think I felt one about to come through during bath time tonight. He won't let me look in his mouth. Of course.
• Even with the no teeth, he does a great job eating. He eats what we eat almost exclusively, and they're starting him on table food at daycare next week.
• I mean, he sleeps. Sometimes. I feel like he's gotten better? Or I've gotten used to it. I told my neurologist I was less sleep deprived so.. Hopefully I'm not lying to him.
• Speed crawler, master cruiser, able to stand by himself for basically as long as he wants to, and taking some steps! When he holds my hands to chase Thad around, he basically runs.
• Thinks Thad is the most hilarious. Thad is... slowly warming up to him.
• Hemangioma is still shrinking away. His doctor said she wants to see him back in six months to dilate his eyes again to make sure all is well but that will probably be it. So excited.
• He is super into only wanting me if he can see me. Sometimes I sneak away, but if he spies me, he's all sobs. Poor guy.
• Growing so fast. Learning so much. Already not wanting to my baby anymore. Killin me.

• When I took him to the doctor for bronchitis last week he was 18 pounds, and 28.25 inches. So gaining in percentiles!
• Size 4 diapers during the day, size 5 at night so the stomach sleeper doesn't pee out.
• Mostly 9-12 month clothes. All of his 12 month pants are too big, but I still refuse to buy 9 month pants.
• 5 bottles a day... 6-7 oz for the daytime 4 bottles, and then a 4 oz bottle around midnight.
• 3 meals per day. Still eating more and more of what we eat. And LOVES it. If he sees me eating something he doesn't have he gets upset. Yesterday I took the roll he was eating and tore it into pieces and he SCREAMED. Everyone thought it was entertaining.
• Team Toothless. He'll get them someday.
• Still not a great sleeper. Can tell we hit the 9 month sleep regression because when I try to get him to sleep (even naps) he screams and thrashes and is just generally displeased. Once he's asleep he wakes up between 11 and midnight, and then between 2 and 4. Up for the day at 5 or 6 most days.
• His spitup situation is definitely better. He still spits up some. We're moving towards a toddler formula in hopes of easing his transition to whole milk at a year.
• He pulls up on everything, cruises like a pro, will stand solo for up to ten seconds if he reeeally concentrates. Loves walking with his walker. Speed crawler.
• Is generally just interested in whatever Thad is playing with and Thad is super duper thrilled about that.
• In typical bad parent form, he sleeps with a blanket just like Thad did at this age. Plus his Doggy lovey.
• Starting to give high fives. Kinda sorta.
• Smiley. So smiley. And just generally really happy unless he's mad about something and then he's... super upset.
• His hemangioma is definitely shrinking. Doesn't seem like we'll have to have any kind of medicine intervention for it to go away. Yay!

I love this time of year. And I love this age for babies. It's a glorious time right now.

I'd forgotten that all of the milestones start coming fast and hard here for a bit. He's now crawling on all fours, pulls up on anything that will let him (led to a few good falls) will cruise a tiny bit on furniture, is starting to walk more with his walker, is eating some "real" food, and chats up a storm.

He is, however, still toothless.

And he's back in constant congestion land. But no fever, and in high spirits means we just ride it out. His next mental leap (Wonder Weeks) is coming up in the next week, and I keep wondering how he'll handle it this time. He's been so happy lately - entertains himself with toys and trying to get into everything. I enjoy the cuddles, but not the whining every time I set him down, but we'll see how it goes.

And Halloween is in a week!! Thad is going to be a *gasp* garbage man, and Atti will be a sad excuse for a minion. Last year was the only year we just bought a costume because Thad wanted to be Marshall from PP. No use trying to find a preschooler garbage man costume. And Atti's was just something cute. However, Thad is definitely scared of most Halloween decorations, so we'll have to see how that night goes. Hoping the candy will be incentive enough for him.

He's definitely not as afraid of other people like Thad was at this age. I'm not sure if that'll start up soon, or if he'll just be a less anxious kid.

Otherwise, life is flying by. A very stressful month for Michael (I keep thinking the stress is behind us and then it just comes back worse), but he's still been amazing and taken us out places. Pumpkin patch, waffle outings, Target trips... I say he's taken us out because at the end of last month, it seems I had a seizure while I was sleeping at my parent's house. Had my dad not noticed, I'm not sure we would have ever known. After a couple days in the hospital, and some fun brain tests, I got to come home with new medicine and the "no driving for six months" rule. The neurologist here basically agreed and said, "eh you may or may not have another seizure ever." okay, cool! But not really. Work has been amazing, and I'll be at home working for most of the next six months. So thankful for that. It's hard, because I enjoy driving, and not being able to just up and go somewhere is hard (though we'll probably be spending less money at Target...) So that was probably the most "exciting" thing that's happened. And I've told and not told so many people, plus starting the new medicine has made my memory super hazy, so I apologize if I've told some of you many times what's going on, and others of you not told at all. Just yell at me. It's fine.

Oh, but even after that happened, I got to fly to Vegas a couple weeks ago for the Tableau conference. AND GUESS WHO SLEPT 8 HOURS ONE NIGHT. Little bugger. He hasn't done it since. But I still had a great time at the conference. Learned a lot. Got a bit better sleep than I'm getting at home. It was odd being in Vegas just a week after the mass shooting, but Tableau shifted accordingly, bringing the night out back to MB, and doing all kind of stuff to help out and raise money. It was awesome to see and be a part of.

• He's.... some weight and length. Honestly, I haven't the slightest idea.
• Just about done with size 3 diapers I think. Finishing up the rest of those and then we'll switch to 4s during the day and eventually 5s at night.
• 9 an 12 month onesies and tops, mostly 9 month bottoms. Except Thad basically shot through that size so we're putting Atti in 12 month pants and rolling them up. Sorry, kiddo.
• He gets four bottles during the day between 6 and 8 oz, and then one 3-4 oz bottle at night. He's still such a crap sleeper, I haven't tried to take that one away yet. Soon.
• I've given up trying to pinpoint why he hates sleeping. One night he'll wake up once or twice and go back down easy, and the next be up every hour to hour and a half, with almost no differences in the day. He's pretty much down to 3 naps a day (9, 12, 4) but then last week at daycare he decided he only needed one nap per day, and then another when he got home. That didn't fly.
• Spitup situation is still improving, I think? It's mostly mucus when he's sick, and he can burp now without throwing up, but especially after his morning bottle I have to make sure to have a burp rag handy. (Just what you wanted to know).
• Especially with getting to 12M clothes, he's starting to look more like a toddler some days. I say it almost every post - the days are long, but the months and years are so short. I can't believe he's already so close to being a year old.
• Thad started walking around 9.5 months... I'm wondering if Atti will be around there too, or closer to 10-11. He certainly does love standing. He just has such tiny, chubby feet.
• He gets 2 puree meals at daycare, and then some for dinner, or some of whatever we're having. He's got his pincher grip down, he just has a hard time getting to his mouth and dropping off the food. He definitely prefers I feed it to him. *eye roll* But he's getting better, and he definitely LOVES big people food. Pasta, especially. He's definitely my son.
• He's also learned how to correctly fall on his butt from standing.
• So, so smiley. And such a joy. Unless it's the middle of the night and he's crying.
